About Boyd Norton

Boyd Norton Boyd is the 2015 recipient of the Sierra Club's prestigious Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography.

He is the photographer/author of 17 books. His recent book, Serengeti : The Eternal Beginning, received high praise from Jane Goodall, Richard Engel, Chief Foreign Correspondent for NBC News, actor/eco-activist Ed Begley, Jr., and many others.

His newest is entitled Conservation Photography Handbook: How to Save the World One Photo at a Time.

He has been published in most major magazines in this country and abroad, including Time, National Geographic, Smithsonian, The New York Times, Natural History, Audubon, Popular Photography, Geo, Outdoor Photographer, Conde Nast's Traveler, Travel & Leisure, Outside, Sierra, Vogue, Playboy, Money, and numerous others.

He has served on the Board of Trustees for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, devoted to saving the last mountain gorillas.

Boyd is leading the battle to save the Serengeti ecosystem from a destructive commercial highway and other developments. He founded and is co-director of Serengeti Watch, a tax deductible non-profit dedicated to preserving the Serengeti ecosystem.

He was an invited speaker at the 8th World Wilderness Congress in Anchorage, Alaska in October, 2005.
